I am Second: Real Stories. Changing  Lives. By Doug Bender and Dave Sterrett is a compilation of testimonies. The theme of the book is that God is first and that when you become second and put God first in your life, decisions and goals, you not only benefit but you prosper.  Nearly all of the 20 stories are set up in the same manner, a brief background, a rock bottom or revelation and then a decision to put God first. You’ll also see that each of these stories is about a change that occurs in a person’s life when they commit to putting God first. No person is incapable of change or growth through Christ. Peace is possible for everyone, if you look in the right place.

At the end of each chapter, there is a link for iamsecond.com, where you can watch the film for that person and there are other people’s links as well, so you can watch other stories like the one you just read. Very cool!

I LOVED this book! I didn’t recognize all of the people but I got something from each of their messages. It was a very quick read and incredibly inspiring. I will definitely be passing this book along to my friends and family.
